West Lyon FFA Holds New Member Meeting

By Rebecca Van Regenmorter, Reporter

On August 24, the West Lyon FFA held their annual new member meeting.  There were 54 members in attendance, with 22 new members present.

During the meeting, a slideshow was presented by the officer team, including pictures and descriptions about various FFA activities that will happen throughout the year to inform new members about the many activities FFA has to offer.

Following the meeting, a committee challenge was held.  The committee challenges will be a new addition to the West Lyon FFA.  This summer, the officer team met to establish goals for the chapter for this school year.

Among these goals was the committee challenge.  It is designed to encourage members to be active in committee activities.  Each committee will receive points for the following activities: organizing an event, having a committee meeting, having all members present at a chapter meeting, and finally, winning a committee challenge game.  The games are held at the end of each meeting, with points being awarded for the place the committee receives.   The SAE/Ag Career committee won the latest challenge.

Good luck to all committees as we continue throughout the year.  The meeting concluded with a light supper.
